majority leader of the Kentucky
House introduced House Bill 299,
after receiving substantial
information and briefings from
American Energy Study
representatives. Some of the
language was actually adopted from
AES materials. After receiving
a unanimous vote in both the
Kentucky House
and Senate, the Governor signed the Bill into law on April
21, 2006. |

Coal Pushed for Energy Independence
Gov. Joe Manchin was elected chairman Monday of the Southern States Energy Board, a regional group that represents some of the country’s biggest oil-, gas- and coal-producing states.
On Monday, the group released a 211-page report calling for a host of tax breaks, government-insurance programs and other incentives to help coal replace foreign oil supplies. |
